This series of half-hour programs about building boats has been a
popular offering on over forty American Public Television stations for
the past two years. If it happens in a boatyard or on the water, you'll
see it on "The Boat Shop."

Based on proven audience interest, this unique program takes viewers
step-by-step through the building of a simple, distinctive watercraft.
Boats of every kind are featured on "The Boat Shop" and every aspect of
things nautical is fair game, from model building and craftsmanship,
boat shows and museums to the restoration of antique and classic
vessels.

In each program the audience is taken aboard an array of unique and in
some cases historic watercraft. From simple home-built kayaks and
canoes to the Great Lakes educational schooner "Inland Seas." There are
racing and cruising sailboats and motorcraft; fish tugs, a coast guard
buoy tender, and even a lovingly restored high speed commuter from the
turn of the century.

The Producer and Host of "The Boat Shop" is the affable and popular
David Dean who brings years of hands-on experience with boats of all
kinds to the program. David receives hundreds of letters each season
from enthusiastic viewers in 28 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. In
charge of production for "The Boat Shop" is Jay Gierky whose credits
include, National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, and ABC.

"The Boat Shop" is produced on the shores of what is arguably the finest
body of fresh water for boating in the world, The American Great Lakes.
The program is set in a barn on Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula and looks
out over this "sweetwater" ocean.

Fifty two weeks of "The Boat Shop" programs with a proven track record
are now available for public television underwriting and for
international distribution through Resolution Productions. Future
programs are planned to include co-produced segments and programs with
international broadcasters.
